#5: Titanosaurus
Here
are some photos of my 1/160 scale Titanosaurus model. This thing stands
about 30 cm tall, and is in scale with the Billikin '75 Godzilla and
MechaGodzilla 2 models. I made this piece in the same way as most of
the others. I started with an aluminum armature and built up the basic
shape in Super Sculpy. After adjusting this somewhat, I then sculpted
the body contours over the rough form using a product called Magic Sculpt
(a two-part epoxy putty). The most tedius part of the project involved
making all of the scales that cover most of his body. This was done
using Milliput; I first rolled little 2 mm balls out, then pushed them
into place on the body. I then used a sculpting tool to blend them into
the body. I plan on doing an article detailing the construction of this
beast in the next issue of Japanese Giants.
