Photos
of Built and Painted kits
These
pictures some some of my work, both building and painting of individual
kits and diorama work. Most were done for myself, but I've included
a few done for clients. Click on the small images to see the full photo;

Kaiyodo
1964 style Godzilla, with custom base.

Kaiyodo
1/450 scale Atragon.

Paradise
Godzilla vs Ebirah big swing kit with custom base (built for a client).

Billikin
1/6 scale Kanegon. This strange creature is from an episode of the TV
series "Ultra Q". I made a small base using balsa wood planks,
and real leaves that were trimmed to scale.

Kaiyodo
resin Majin, 30 cm tall. This was produced in the mid-80's, but I'm
not sure if it was ever made generally available. It was a generous
gift from Mr. Miyawaki, the founder of Kaiyodo. I hope that I've done
this great kit justice.

Billikin
1/160 scale MechaGodzilla II with custom diorama base. I was so impressed
with the great sculpting on this kit that I knew that I would have to
do something special for its environment. The city base is made using
Green Max N-scale structures, as well as other N-scale accessories.
I used photos of real Japanese streets for reference for both detail
placement and weathering. The diorama took the Special Judges Award
at the 2000 G-Fest, and was featured in the December 2000 issue of Hobby
Japan.
Paradise
Mogera, 1/48th scale, 30 cm tall. This was a nice kit that still required
some custom building. The warped vinyl back fin was replaced with a
styrene version; the clear "jaw" was made using heat-stretched
clear styrene; the antennae were made with brass wire; and the eyes
were replaced with model railroad lenses.

TVC
Hatching Larva Mothra. An ancient kit, by garage kit standards. The
larva comes in two resin pieces that require extensive putty; the egg
came as vacuform pieces. There was also an attempt to do a vacuform
base, but I disgarded it in favor of a custom base with rock structures
made with Woodland Scenics rock molds (these are rubber molds taken
from real rocks that model railroaders use to create rock outcroppings).

Billikin
Ultraman "C Type" with custom base.
Paradise
Varan. Built and painted for a client.
